Help for New and Prospective PvPers - IRC and GvG Commentary
As per this thread, we are dedicated towards helping new players get involved in GvG and PvP as a whole. We will do our best to provide you with resources so that you can have fun and PvP at the level you want to.
To assist with finding guests as well as ask questions, we have established an IRC channel #gwgpickup on the Gamesurge network. You will need a program like xchat or mIRC to get into the channel, and both of those websites have setup guides. The channel info is as follows:- Server: irc.gamesurge.net
- Port: 6667
- Channel: #gwgpickup
For those of you who would prefer to not install a client, instructions for using the web client are available.
We will also be covering this month's Tournament Finals on Mumble, featuring several renowned PvPers as commentators. Please come to observe the finals of this month's tournament (via Observer Mode) with the expert commentary to help you understand what is going on. This is a great way to understand how GvG works, meet some top players (who would love to guest for you), and ask questions! This event will begin at 3:30 PM UTC-4 on Saturday the 30th[/b] and run until approximately 6:00 PM. Feel free to come for the entire time, or pop in and out as your schedule requires. If you do not use Guru Mumble, you can download it here and set the address to 69.164.205.88
UPDATE: Everything is set on Mumble! Spectators should join the GvG Observers channel under GvG Commentary. Everyone in the Observers channel will be able to hear the Commentators, and the Observers will be able to talk freely without disturbing the commentary. Questions will be taken in the #gwgpickup IRC channel to keep things running smoothly. We will do our best to record the entirety of the event.
We hope you will join us on IRC and Mumble and get involved!
Update: Recordings of matches with synced commentary are available here.

Wonderful idea, maybe rephrase the title for better explanation, to be more specific, etc.
GL to everyone on Saturday.

Depends on who gets unlucky on Saturday.
I've added instructions for using the web client to the opening post, if you'd like to check out what IRC is like.

I love me some Obs mode action and to get to hear why "xyx" player is attacking "tnt" player, would be great.
Is this mumble thing, kind of like what kestrel used to do with weapon of choice?
ps. I'm in Australia and I have troubles with timezones. My timeclock goes by city names and not GMT zones etc, so when I look on the worldtime clock I see Havana, Cuba as -4 GMT. Is this the correct -4 GMT that you mean? Just so i know how to convert. Thanks.
pps I hate installing new programs. Mumble alright, more like, mutter....

Yea it will be something like Weapon of Choice but less casual banter and more analysis.
GMT -4 equates to the New York time zone, known as EST, Havana is in it I believe.

Really nice idea.
I always did admire the works of Team Love [kiSu] and this falls under the same ethos.
Have fun mumbling!

Will you/someone be able to record this for those who cannot make it or those who would love to link to these for reference?

I just realised that this will be 5.30am on Sunday morning for me. Pity, I would have liked to have listened in, but would be cool if someone could record it.
